GREEN CHILI PEPPER WITH "JAKO"

INGREDIENTS (serves 4)

  • 300 grams green chili peppers ("aotogarashi")
  • 30 grams "chirimen jako" (young sardines)
  • 100 grams konnyaku (devil's tongue) balls
  • 1 red chili pepper ("akatogarashi")
  • a [2 tablespoons sake, 1 tablespoon mirin, 1/2 tablespoon sugar, 1/2 tablespoon
  • light soy sauce, 100 ml dashi]
  • sesame oil
HOW TO COOK
  1. Cut the green chili peppers in half widthwise
  2. Remove the seeds from the red chili pepper and cut into small pieces
  3. Heat the sesame oil in a pan, add in order (1), (2), and the konnyaku balls and stir fry; add (a) and the "chirimen jako" and bring to a boil. Arrange on platter and serve .
